JULIA TRICKEY BOTANICAL WATERCOLOUR COURSE
20th to 23rd September 2020
Due to the current situation with the Covid-19 pandemic we have decided to cancel all our courses for the 2020 season. We are sorry but look forward to welcoming you another time. Please be assured that all deposits will be paid back in full for those who have already booked.

We are absolutely delighted to be welcoming the award winning botanical artist Julia Trickey to tutor a four day botanical watercolour course commencing Monday September 20th 2020 .
On this four-day workshop, Julia will guide you through the processes and techniques used for botanical art or encourage you to build on what you already know. Using regional and seasonal fruit and flowers, we will consider how to plan and execute an accurate botanical study in watercolour. We will explore appropriate painting techniques to convey form and texture and look at the elements that give botanical art the 'wow' factor. We will look into what makes an interesting or dynamic composition and use the work of historic and contemporary artists as our inspiration.
You could work on a single subject for the whole course or create a visual diary by arranging several specimens on the page in a pleasing composition.
Suitable for those that already have some watercolour or botanical art experience, an equipment list will be sent prior to the course. Class size will be between 6 and 8 participants.
Morning sessions will be from 9.30 to 12.30 but include coffee and refreshment breaks.
Lunch will be served from 12.30 to 1.30
Afternoon session 2.30-4.30 but with break for afternoon tea.
You are welcome to continue to use the chapel atelier until 6pm to catch up with any work (no tutor during this period).
There will be a visit one afternoon to a nearby place of interest.
You will receive a goody bag plus one of our atelier aprons.
Please see the accommodation page on this site for a fabulous package at Château Larrouzè
to include Breakfast, lunch (served at Escrimis), dinner and transport for the duration of your stay.
